CANCELLATION POLICY

At Sears Private Practice, we value your time and commitment to the therapeutic process. This Cancellation & Refund Policy is designed to ensure fairness and respect for both clients and the counsellor’s professional schedule. It applies to all online and in-person counselling sessions.
1. Appointment Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule your counselling session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice prior to your scheduled appointment time.
- Cancellations made 24 hours or more in advance will not incur any charge.
- You may request to reschedule your appointment subject to the counsellor’s availability.
2. Late Cancellations and No-Shows
If you:
- Cancel your session less than 24 hours before your scheduled time, or
- Do not attend your appointment without prior notice (no-show),
the full session fee will be charged, and no refund will be provided. This policy applies equally to online and in-person sessions.
3. Refunds
- Refunds are not available for late cancellations or missed sessions.
- If a session is cancelled by Sears Private Practice or Richard Sears (e.g., due to an emergency or technical issue), you will be offered a choice to reschedule or receive a full refund.
- Prepaid session packages (if applicable) follow the same cancellation rules, and individual missed sessions are not refundable.
4. Rescheduling Policy
If you provide more than 24 hours’ notice, we will make every effort to reschedule your appointment at a mutually convenient time without any additional cost.

Messages received outside business hours will be treated as received at the start of the next working day.
6. Exceptions
We understand that emergencies can occur. Exceptions to this policy may be made only in cases of genuine emergencies or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., medical emergencies, natural disasters), at the sole discretion of Richard Sears.
7. Agreement to Policy
By booking or attending a counselling session with Sears Private Practice, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this Cancellation & Refund Policy.
